Half pallet
A half pallet (EPAL 6) measures 800 × 600 mm and is 144 mm high. It weighs about 9.5 kg empty and has a safe working load of 750 kg; the bottom pallet of a stack may carry up to 1,500 kg. In Germany it is also called the Düsseldorfer Palette.

A half pallet weighs about 9.5 kg (21 lb) empty, according to EPAL. Treat it as a nominal value: the weight of wood shifts with moisture. EPAL rates the safe working load of the EPAL 6 at 750 kg (1,653 lb). When loaded pallets are stacked on a solid, even surface, the bottom pallet must not exceed a load of 1,500 kg (3,307 lb).

Half pallets carry display and promotional goods in retail. EPAL describes the EPAL 6 as a display pallet that can stand on the sales floor. It was developed to be more robust and longer-lasting than the Düsseldorfer half pallets already on the market, which had no independent quality assurance.
These counts come from the engine that plans your loads, for the units this pallet is normally loaded into. Each row links to the page for that unit.

Assumptions: each pallet is 1.00 m high including its load and weighs 165 kg. Stacked counts put two pallets on top of each other where the unit is tall enough.

Half pallet: 800 × 600 × 144 mm, or 0.80 × 0.60 × 0.14 m (31.5 × 23.6 × 5.7 in). The height is that of the empty pallet, not of the load.

In a 20 ft container, 25 one layer or 50 stacked two high. In a 40 ft container, 55 or 110. In a 13.6 m curtainsider trailer, 68 or 136. These assume 1.00 m height including the load and 165 kg per pallet.
Düsseldorfer Palette is the German name for the 800 × 600 mm half pallet. The EPAL 6 is the quality-assured version, with the dimensions and loads listed above. Düsseldorfer pallets without the EPAL mark have no independent quality assurance, so ask the supplier for the load rating.
