Flat pallet
An industrial pallet (EPAL 2 / EN 13698-2) measures 1,200 × 1,000 mm and is 162 mm high. It weighs about 35 kg empty and has a safe working load of 1,250 kg. In a stack, the bottom pallet may carry up to 4,250 kg.

An industrial pallet weighs about 35 kg (77 lb) empty, according to EPAL. Treat it as a nominal value: the weight of wood shifts with moisture. EPAL rates the safe working load at 1,250 kg (2,756 lb). When loaded pallets are stacked on a solid, even surface, the bottom pallet must not exceed a load of 4,250 kg (9,370 lb).
| Industrial pallet | Kilograms | Pounds |
|---|---|---|
| Empty weight (tare) | 35 kg | 77 lb |
| Safe working load | 1,250 kg | 2,756 lb |
| Stacking load, bottom pallet | 4,250 kg | 9,370 lb |
The 1,200 × 1,000 mm industrial pallet is designed for heavy loads. Its base frame lets it run on chain and roller conveyors. The same footprint appears among the chemical pallets as CP1 and CP6.
These counts come from the engine that plans your loads, for the units this pallet is normally loaded into. Each row links to the page for that unit.

A count marked payload stops at the unit's payload, not at its floor space.
Assumptions: each pallet is 1.20 m high including its load and weighs 500 kg. Stacked counts put two pallets on top of each other where the unit is tall enough.

Industrial pallet: 1,200 × 1,000 × 162 mm, or 1.20 × 1.00 × 0.16 m (47.2 × 39.4 × 6.4 in). The height is that of the empty pallet, not of the load.

In a 20 ft container, 9 one layer or 9 stacked two high. In a 40 ft container, 22 or 22. In a 13.6 m curtainsider trailer, 26 or 48. These assume 1.20 m height including the load and 500 kg per pallet.
